Great British Beach Clean at Winchelsea Beach

Winchelsea Beach Dog's Hill Road, Rye, East Sussex, United Kingdom

More than just a beach clean - a very sociable event opening eyes to the stories behind the rubbish on our beaches. This beach was first surveyed in 2015 and to help discover the source of much of the rubbish on the beach we "pick up, identify, record, bag and bin or recycle". The information goes to a national database where the MCS can lobby Government to help reduce marine pollution (plastic bag tax, wet wipe labelling etc). Meeting point: Stade Hall,...Continue Reading "Learn about Hastings Fishing – Guided Walk"

At this event, we will address these issues. We will watch a short UNESCO film and documentary showing some of these catastrophic consequences for the environment, local communities, societies and economies. We will watch real testimonies of...Continue Reading "Our Sustainable Planet"

Soft Noise Stitchers

Stade Open Space 20 Rock-A-Nore Rd, Hastings, East Sussex, United Kingdom

Sewing craft meets activism - try your hand at a bit of quiet activism at the Big Green Fair. Sew some words onto cockles and leave them in walls and windowsills for a passerby to stop and read and change how they think or feel about something. Flags adorned with words of encouragement to remind a person of power they could do better. Craftivism is designed to gently and playfully encourage the type of change activism strives for without the aggression and confrontation. Many of...Continue Reading "Soft Noise Stitchers"
